Background and purpose: Given the significance of instructors in educational institutions and universities, equipping them with skills related to emotional intelligence components can enhance their attainment of the highest standards of job motivation levels. Therefore, the present study aimed to assess the relationship between emotional intelligence and job motivation of faculty members of the Basic Sciences Department of the Faculty of Medicine, Mazandaran University of Medical Sciences.
Materials and Methods: The data collection tool was a questionnaire. Two questionnaires were prepared to collect information: 1) Standard Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire (Bradbury-Greaves) and 2) Standard Job Motivation Levels Questionnaire. Data were analyzed in SPSS software (version 26) using both descriptive and inferential statistics.
Results: Based on the results, 35 (56.5%) of faculty members who participated in this study were female, and 27 (43.5%) were male. At a significance level of 0.05, hypothesis H1 was accepted, and with a high coefficient of 0.489, emotional intelligence had an effect on improving the career motivation of faculty members of faculty members of the Basic Sciences Department of the Faculty of Medicine, Mazandaran University of Medical Sciences.
Conclusion: As evidenced by the results of this study,  there was a direct and substantial relationship between emotional intelligence and job motivation of the faculty members of the Basic Sciences Faculty of Mazandaran University of Medical Sciences, and emotional intelligence was a predictor of job motivation. As a result, the overall score of emotional intelligence can predict the overall score of career motivation.
