Dr Mirza Mohammad Kermanshahi, an Iranian physician from the Qajar era and author of the book “Children's Disease” (Amraz-e-Atfal), was one of the first Iranian doctors educated in France who played a significant role in introducing modern medicine to Iran. At that time, traditional medicine based on Galenic principles and the concept of Hot and Cold temperament predominated; however, with the establishment of Darul-Fanun and the presence of european instructors, modern medicine gradually replaced the traditional system. Additionally, efforts were made to prevent diseases such as smallpox and to establish public health institutions like the Public Health Council (Majles-e-Hefzolsehe), which had a substantial impact on the country’s health system.
