Conflict of interest is a situation in which a person has professional and social commitments due to their responsibilities on the one hand, and personal interests that conflict with those responsibilities on the other. In this situation, the person is exposed to a violation of the neutrality between their responsibilities and personal interests. Conflicts of interest come in many forms and can occur in various fields, from law to medicine, and in matters ranging from general issues to the smallest details. Anyone may be consciously or unconsciously exposed to a conflict of interest. These conflicts can be financial or non-financial. Financial conflicts are generally easier to examine and identify due to access to financial records. In contrast, many examples of non-financial conflicts remain unknown among researchers, professors, and academics. Therefore, the present review study aims to introduce the non-financial conflicts of interest, along with their types and examples, as well as practical ways to prevent and manage these conflicts in the field of medical sciences.
